When will I be notified about practice start dates?
Coaches typically notify players in early to mid-August, but it can sometimes be as late as the end of the month.
Where are practices and home games held?
They are usually held on Peninsula School District grass fields rented by the club.
How long is the soccer season?
The fall season starts in August, with games beginning after Labor Day and running through mid-November, sometimes extending into early December for older teams.
Can I choose my child’s practice day/time?
No. Practice schedules depend on coach availability, as they are volunteers.
Can a child play in an older age group?
Players at the oldest age for their group may request to play up, but it requires approval from the Rec Director, a possible evaluation, and a signed waiver.
Can a child play in a younger age group?
No.
My child has little soccer experience. Will they get playing time?
Coaches aim to provide equal playing time for all players, regardless of skill level.
What equipment is needed?
Shin guards and cleats are required for players ages 4 and up. A water bottle should be brought to all practices and games. Soccer balls are provided. Full uniforms (jersey, shorts, practice shirt, and socks) are given to all players.
Can my child be placed on a team with friends or a specific coach?
Friend requests are considered but not guaranteed. See the Registration Policy for more details.
What about rainouts or cancellations?
Rain doesn’t automatically cancel games or practices. Coaches and referees will assess field conditions. Games may proceed in light to moderate rain but will be canceled if lightning is present. Practices may be canceled at the coach’s discretion.
Will soccer conflict with other sports?
While Harbor Soccer encourages multi-sport participation, the fall season may conflict with other activities. Notify your coach of any scheduling conflicts as early as possible.
